Magnolia Market, the home decor shop of Joanna Gaines, has become a tourist attraction in Waco, Texas.

Something fun sits on every surface. If only these adorable little wall vases would fit in my overstuffed suitcase.
When I learned we were driving right through Waco, Texas, I knew we had to stop at Magnolia Market. A big fan of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper,” I couldn’t miss the opportunity to see Joanna Gaines’ shop. She co-hosts the TV show with her husband Chip.
The tiny shop sits on what was probably a quiet street before the TV fame arrived. We showed up soon after it opened on a Tuesday morning — and the traffic and stream of people hurrying in looked like Starbucks on half-price Frappuccino day.

We had room to breathe, the sales clerk said. Sometimes the crowd waits patiently in line out the door for an opportunity to stop in.
Never mind. We squeezed our way in — the crowd we saw was much smaller than on a busy day the sales clerk cheerfully told us — and took delight in seeing decor just like the things Joanna puts in her Fixer Uppers. Lots of country chic, almost everything neutral, the wares ranged from linens to the big clocks Joanna seems to like.
Oh, and everybody stopped to take their pictures before they left. Don’t you always do that when you stop to buy a colander?
