The trees glow golden as the sun dips toward the horizon at this Captiva (Florida) hangout, the Mucky Duck.

Prefer mixed drinks? This rum and coke is made with a fermented rum that, because it isn’t distilled, is considered wine. Alcohol content is lower, too.
Here’s to the sunset! Here’s to Captiva! Here’s to the Mucky Duck (and their wonderful parking czar who keeps everyone safe and satisfied as they wait for a rare and wonderful parking space just before sundown.)
Sunset over the Gulf of Mexico is always splendid. This little hangout on the beach at Captiva Island, Florida, offers beer and wine and some interesting cocktails made with fermented but not distilled spirits (and so are technically wine) to toast the sunset. There’s live music and an outside bar, a few tables and chairs and the whole beach for enjoying those final moments of sunshine.
Then everybody goes inside (get your name on the list early, there are no reservations) for something hearty to go with the next cocktail. The Mucky Duck has been around since America’s Bicentennial. And from the few times I’ve been there, it looks like they could still be celebrating sunset here for the Tricentennial.
